The revealing is a right of passage for young people in the Lonely World. If you have not been to a revealing you are not able to obtain a license for work. The revealing was not always a part of life for the people of the Lonely World, but it has been around for long enough that it is part of the status quo for most. The process of a revealing is simple enough, despite the magic behind it being incredibly complex. The person being revealed simply hold their hand over the orb, the faint white mists in the centre of the orb will coalesce and change colour to define symbols representing your destined path in life. Then you get a card and proceed to the correct advisor for more information, these cards used to be handwritten and required the assessors to vigilantly scrutinise what they saw in the orb. Now, thanks to the wonders of technology they are automatically transcribed and printed.

There are many different results that can come from the initial revealing process. The more exciting of these are the various adventuring classes, though the most common are the layman results. There are so many layman trades that in the first revealing you cannot be given a straight answer. They must proceed to the layman advisor for a revealing orb which is specifically for this purpose. In public revealing sessions there can be upwards of a hundred people waitin gin line to have their futures revealed to them. For this reason, they often use town halls, or fields too accommodate everyone. In town halls there would be rooms designated for the teleportation of adventuring types as well as their primary advisors to take messages for family, give them some more information etc. In the case of layman types, they would proceed to have a secondary evaluation and then proceed home with their families. More often than not they will have their name, adress, and revealed profession taken down and then they will wait to be assigned a trainer unless their family hold the same professions. For those in fields there are tents in varying colours with large symbols embossed on them for the adventuring types to enter. The layman tent is far less eye catching in greys without a symbol on it.

It is not uncommon for young hopefuls to bring bags with personal belongings along with them in the hope that they will be selected for an adventuring type career but this is usually not the case. Some expect to be layman and as such bring nothing with them. In these cases, the family are instructed to bring personal belongings to be sent to their family member. This is something said to all families but only a few do. Either way, this day is pivotal to all, for it isn’t every day that your future is revealed to you.
