A Little Every Day - Week 7

This week has been a busy one! I have been super productive and have finally been able to spend some more time with friends. The start of the week began with last weeks recap of the A Little Every Day project and with the beginnings of the Machi Koro review. Tuesday, I finished up the review and got it out there for all you amazing people! I spent the evening after work making my first ever lemon drizzle cake. I made it for a friend’s birthday, and it went really well. From what they said they loved it. This zingy moist cake recipe has been added to my list to add to the website in the future.

My next focus was a Dungeons and Dragons recap. I’m going to be trying to get up to date with them over the next two weeks but it’s a large goal which I don’t reckon will happen but hey who knows. I’m going to be seeing how it goes but not pushing too much. This week I managed to get one finished, but this was the last one with the notes written up. The others are recorded as note taking on the DM’s part was disrupting the session more than I had liked. A better game with more immersion is very much worth the extra time to write the recaps in my opinion!

Towards the end of the week I turned my attention back to working on my novel. The last few weeks have been really hard in terms of making progress on the novel. If this was one of my previous attempts at writing a novel, I probably would have given up by now. I’d have decided that I was never going to get past this barrier and get the thing finished. I can safely say that the only reason I haven’t is because of the A Little Every Day project. The act of writing every day keeps the creative juices flowing. Revisiting it every couple of days, in between other projects, is what has made the difference and caused me to be able to finish Chapter 10 finally. Like all the others it will require significant editing, but it is worth it.

After finishing Chapter 10 of the first Lonely World novel I felt like I had run a marathon. Despite that, I felt like if I could overcome the writers’ block I had experienced with this chapter I could overcome any block. At the same time as I feel like I’ve finished a marathon, I know that I am only just over halfway there. My current plan for the novel is to have 19 chapters, up from 18. The likelihood is that I may gain another chapter or two in the process of writing it out. At ten chapters I’ve done the greater part of the work, but I still have a long time left before the job is done. The end of the novel is now on the approach but there is still a mountain to climb before I get there, both figuratively and literally in story terms. The biggest thing I have learnt is that by working on it consistently and pushing through the writers block slowly and steadily I will get to the end of the novel and onto the editing stage soon enough. I just have to trust in the process.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. I am learning so much about myself and what I am capable of and I’m glad that I have people to come along on the journey with me. I am sorry this recap is a day late. I will see you soon for the next one!
